2017 Dorothy Kohl Future Star Achievement Award Winners

Congratulations to this year’s Dorothy Kohl Future Star Achievement Award winners Caroline Dolehide and Caty McNally! This award is given to female players who are competing in the Girls’ 14, 16 and/or 18 age division at the national level, International Tennis Federation (ITF) level and/or professional level. Funding goes towards tournament and player development expenses which include airfare, lodging, entry fees, meals and coaching.

Although both young women are still in high school – Dolehide just completing her senior year – they already have had successful careers. Dolehide, from Hinsdale, Ill. has achieved a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking of No. 218.

In addition to playing WTA events, Dolehide is an ITF player, having won two ITF singles and two ITF doubles titles. Just this year, she won eight matches en route to capture an ITF singles championship in Arizona and won a doubles title in California. She also reached the doubles final at an ITF circuit event in Midland, Michigan in February.

Dolehide plans to use the grant to assist with travel expenses to WTA events this summer and the US Open and/or US Open Junior Championships this August and September. She’ll then go on to play tennis for UCLA.

McNally, from Cincinnati, Ohio, is also an ITF player who has represented the United States in many junior tournaments around the world. In April she was named to the Junior Fed Cup team, one of only 12 junior players nominated to represent the U.S. in the qualifying rounds of Junior Davis and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas (16 and under) and ITF World Junior Tennis (14-and-under). She also reached the Australian Open Junior Championship doubles final earlier this year.

In 2016, McNally was a doubles finalist in the Wimbledon Junior Championships and here in the U.S., she was a member of the Girls’ 18 team that won the USTA National Team Championships. She plans to use the grant to assist with travel expenses for both the French Open Junior Championships and Wimbledon Junior Championships this summer.

Congratulations and good luck to these deserving recipients!
