Filling A Void

Kids with Down Syndrome love tennis. This wonderful program, Buddy Up for Life, pairs every juniorathlete with a buddy who coaches tennis skills and becomes a friend and mentor. Imagine an environment where these athletes learn new tennis skills, grow in confidence, and make meaningful connections!

Parents quickly saw the tremendous positive change in the lives of their kids. Now there’s a Buddy Up Summer Camp, Buddy Up Fitness, Buddy Up Life Skills and Buddy Up Connections. This influential program has grown to include twenty-five chapters nationwide, each one working to fill a void in the lives of kids, families, and communities.

One athlete, Esther, a 17-year-old girl with Down syndrome, exemplifies what Buddy Up does best. Her mom says, “Esther’s life has been radically changed socially, mentally, and educationally from attending Buddy Up Tennis. Esther gets great joy from connecting and playing tennis with her peers. Educationally, she is able to follow multiple step directions and is excited to learn! Mentally, this program has made her excited about life, helping her to thrive both on and off the tennis court!”
