People for Palmer Park

AMOUNT RAISED AS OF NOVEMBER 30 - $1,645

The Palmer Park Tennis Academy (PPTA) is offered through the People for Palmer Park, a non-profit organization committed to the “preservation, recreation, and revitalization of Palmer Park, for the good of all.” The goal is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle in the community. The tennis academy began as a program for kids age 10 and under in 2011 with 35 children participating. The program now has approximately 100 participants each summer, with nearly 30 children continuing through the winter at a nearby tennis club. Realizing the need for tennis programming for older children, PPTA added programs for teens and for those kids continuing to improve their game.

Funds are needed to keep registration costs low, enabling the organization to reach more inner city children. Money will also be used to support instructors for the growing number of participants.
