Bay Community Tennis Association

AMOUNT RAISED AS OF NOVEMBER 30 - $625

The Bay Community Tennis Association was formed to meet an unfulfilled need for tennis courts in Bay City, Michigan. The association is leading the effort to construct the BCTA Fitness Facility, an eight-court public site that will include designated courts for players age 10 and under and wheelchair tennis players. The new facility will replace a patchwork of substandard sites with a centralized facility that will serve hundreds of area youth through scholastic organizations and tennis programming.

The CTA sponsored the Alex Burke Memorial Tennis tournament earlier this summer which raised enough money for two scholarships to high school tennis players plus a donation to the court construction. The CTA is a cooperative effort with the local YMCA, an area tennis center, the high school, and the community.

Local community leaders have been working together for several years to secure a location, to establish strategic partnerships, and apply for grants that will help generate financial support for the project. A local school district is providing the land and the BCTA is now working to raise funds. Money donated through the MY Gift initiative will go directly to the BCTA Fitness Facility project.
